Dr. Jan Hedner
Dr. Jan Hedner (MD, PhD) is a Specialist in Clinical Pharmacology and Sleep Medicine at the Sahlgrenska University Hospital and a Professor of Sleep Medicine at Sahlgrenska Academy, UGOT, Sweden, since 2000. He has published over 260 papers, mainly in the fields of respiratory regulation, sleep apnoea, cardiovascular morbidity, sleep apnoea-related epidemiology, and clinical trials in sleepmedicine. He was pioneering the sleep field as a founder of the sleep laboratory in Göteborg in the 1980s. He has been a Visiting Professor at the Sydney University, Australia and University Paris-Sud, France, and has hosted several international researchers in the Gothenburg facility. He is a former President of the Swedish Sleep Research Association, national Swedish head coordinator of sleep specialist and sleep clinic accreditation activities, and has been a coordinating investigator of several larger clinical trials in insomnia and sleep apnoea. He is also one of the initiators and current registry holder of the Swedish Sleep Apnoea Quality Registry (SESAR) and contributes as a coordinator in ESADA.
