Dr. Juha Töyräs

Dr. Töyräs received his MSc and PhD degrees in 1999 and 2004, respectively. Currently, he is Professor and Head of Biomedical Engineering at the School of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering, UQ. He also holds a professorship in Medical Physics and Engineering at UEF. He has published over 245 (ca. 40% as the first or the last author) peer-reviewed scientific papers. These papers have been cited 6352 times with an H-index of 43 (Scopus). Dr. Töyräs has successfully completed the supervision of 37 PhD students and currently supervises over 20 PhD students as well as a number of senior researchers in the fields of biomedical engineering and medical physics. Since 2004 he has been the Vice/Co-Head of the biophysics research group at the Department of Applied Physics, UEF. This group is a relatively large (ca. 10 postdoctoral researchers and ca. 40 PhD students) and a very productive research team (>500 full scientific papers and ca. 60 PhD theses during the last 20+ years). Throughout his career, Dr. Töyräs has continuously produced high quality scientific papers and technological innovations related to development of novel diagnostic tools and analysis techniques.
